National Library - Dublin

Titanic Museum - Belfast

The 2019 Research Trips to both Dublin and Belfast have now been scheduled.  The trip to Dublin will run from Sunday, October 6 to Saturday, October 12.  We will again be staying at Buswells Hotel, just across the street from the National Library.  The week’s research includes The National Library, The National Archives, The Valuation Office, The Registry of Deeds and the General Register Office.  It will also include a visit to EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum and a Pub Night with dinner and Irish music.

The Belfast trip will follow the Dublin trip, from October 13-19.  This year we will be staying at The Belfast Hilton.  This is a change based upon feedback from the 2018 October trip.  The Titanic Hotel and PRONI are both located in the Titanic Quarter, however most everything in that area closes at 5 pm.  Many people suggested a hotel across the river, closer to downtown Belfast was preferable.  The Hilton is about a 15 minute walk from PRONI and less than that to the Ulster Historical Foundation and the Linen Hall Library.  I was able to confirm the Hilton at the same pricing as the Titanic hotel. You can reserve your place for either, or both trips by completing the registration form below and mailing it with your deposit.

I hope you’ll consider the trip in 2019.  In order to register, you must know where in Ireland your ancestors lived. All research in Ireland is dependent on time and place and unless you know that location you won’t be successful researching in Ireland.  Registration for each trip is limited to the first 15 researchers (non-researching companions are welcome to join you).  If you’re not sure if you are ready for the trip, consider scheduling a consultation.
