Today was arrival day for most of the participants in the Research Trip. Because flights from the US and Canada are overnight, typically I'll find sleepy researchers in the Lobby when I come down for breakfast. Check in time at the hotels is 3 p.m. so unless you're very lucky your room is not going to be available. The National Library (just across the street from the hotel) was open today, so there was an opportunity for people to get their Reader's Tickets.
Those that elected to come in early were scheduled for their Consultations today at the Irish Family History Centre at EPIC. Here's a note from Anne
What a truly amazing Irish day! After thoroughly enjoying EPIC-the Irish Emigration Museum, I was treated to a fantastic consultation with a genealogist at The Irish Family Centre. After briefly explaining the research I’ve done and my current research questions, she quickly connected the dots that have been eluding me! She showed me a couple of new sites and a few tricks and I left feeling much more confident that I am indeed searching the “right” Meehans in a parish chock full of Meehans!
Those who arrived today are scheduled for their Consultations tomorrow.
I spent this afternoon visiting EPIC with Pat and Bill. We had been through the exhibit when it first opened, but it has been updated and improved over the years. A great time.
Back at the hotel a hearty group trying to stay awake headed over to Temple Bar for an Irish dinner. We planned it early, so everyone could get back for a good night's sleep.
Happy Hunting!
